The starting point for this project was a very specific production process, namely the casting of cast iron, a material with two characteristics: strength and robustness. Cast iron behaves well under compression, which is why it is used as a structural material in bridge building and, on a more decorative scale, as a base for machine tools. It is precisely this use of cast iron that has inspired the Brut collection, whose design recalls the industrial use of cast iron and applies the "grammar" of this material to the field of contemporary furniture: a solid, uncompromising material. Indeed, the name Brut refers to a barely roughed-up, untreated element, but it also evokes the delicacy of sparkling wine.
