Paladin is a wooden parasol that can be used for both domestic and public purposes. Its canvas appears to float atop an elegantly shaped mast. The design uses a mechanical principle that integrates the tension of the fabric into its structural logic. With only the mast and four movable supports, the fabric absorbs the tensile forces of the parasol when unfolded. The pole runs through the center of the fabric, leaving a central space that acts as an indirect skylight and allows air to circulate. The wooden elements are made of natural teak with an aluminum reinforcing core.
