Diwan

Diwan

A touch of distinction.

The word Diwan has a long etymological trajectory. From India to Persia, via the Ottoman Empire and the whole of the Maghreb, the Diwan was the ambassadors' room where royalty received foreign dignitaries. As a gesture of gratitude, these guests were given a luxurious welcome. One of the practices was to lie down comfortably to parley. This is the origin of the European word Divan, which designates a type of reclining seat, often without a backrest. The Arab heritage of the city of Valencia inspired Perez Ochando to design a contemporary Diwan. The collection incorporates a divan and chaise longue, as well as modular benches and an original small armchair.
