A design icon revisited! The Crate armchair was created in 1934 by design legend Gerrit Rietveld. The object has gone down in the history of world design. In 2023, GERRIT RIETVELD's descendants, in collaboration with the Danish brand Hay, decided to reissue Crate Chair and produce a complete outdoor collection around the original model. Produced by Hay, the Crate collection is made from solid pine treated with a water-based outdoor lacquer. Hay knew immediately that this collaboration had unique potential, making these icons of Dutch design available once again for our gardens and terraces. Respect for these timeless designs is the cornerstone of this inspiring project.
